Not green pastures

Prospect Bay, originally uploaded by leyaevelyn.

I’ve been thinking a fair bit about green, ever since taking a walk by the brook yesterday. Today Lila and I went for a walk along the ocean in Prospect Bay with Suzanne and Lucky. There was little green there. Mostly various grays of the rocks and the blue of the water and sky. Little patches of moss were scattered here and there. No trees. The wind is too strong there to allow trees to grow. It felt like we were transported into a prehistoric site, a place where yet unknown animals roam.

I can use small patches of green in my paintings. And also pale green as a main color works. But large areas of intense greens feel unnatural. Whereas in nature they are comfortable, not in abstract paintings. At least not in mine, so far.
