New York City Subway, originally uploaded by leyaevelyn.
There are many ways to think about New York City. It’s big, it’s crowded, loud, sometimes brash, always exciting. Here are a few ways I see it:
1.It’s okay to stare. No one blinks. 2.The population is more ethic than caucasian. 3.There are more short people (like me!) because of the high South American and Asian population. 4.There is more gum chewing than any other city I have been in. 5.More black and grey, in clothes and scenery, buildings. Probably because there are so many buildings. 6.More women wearing high (very high) heeled shoes and boots. (I possibly was the only female wearing hiking boots in the City. They are comfortable!). 7.It’s a great place to check out the latest fashions. And the street vendors are the best.
I’ll probably think of a few more just after I post this. After all, the contrast between NYC and Nova Scotia couldn’t be much bigger. It’s all white and cold here now after another day of snowing. And quiet. Even the cars on my road don’t make much of a sound, being muffled by the snow.
Tomorrow it will be warm and raining.
