Christmas has come and gone, Hanukkah has come and gone, Tamar’s birthday has past (Happy Birthday, Beautiful!), and now it is a new year, 2010, and today, Aaron’s birthday. It’s been one long party: friends, family and lots of painting. I am still in shock having Aaron and Joanne just a phone call and short ride away. We are meeting for brunch soon and then a movie. I feel so fortunate.
And I’m finally, I think, understanding my struggle with blue. For me it’s a dignified color, needs very little to enrich it. Whereas I can play more extravagantly with red or orange, or even yellow, what I can add to blue needs to be subdued. Otherwise it starts to have too many references to the natural world. And I don’t want to go there in my painting.
