Greetings from Amsterdam!

The trip back from Oslo to Denmark was not so nice. The sea was churning and I felt I had to hold onto the bed or I would fall off. I’m sure it wasn’t as bad as it seemed but I was glad to hit dry land Friday morning. By contrast, it was an easy flight from Denmark to Amsterdam that afternoon.  And Amsterdam has been as hospitable as possible.

Yesterday I went to the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk and the Van Gogh Museums.  I will never see enough Rembrandt paintings in my lifetime.  When I was growing up in Washington, D.C., I used to go to the National Gallery on Saturdays just for the pleasure of Rembrandt’s company.  Last time I was here I went to his house.  That was extreme bliss.

I’m staying with some friends and have been enjoying the family atmosphere.  Their two grandchildren spent last night here and today we went to Vondonpark with them.  Then I did some more exploring of life in Amsterdam.

Tomorrow I’ll be taking the long flight heading home, then getting up in the morning on Tuesday and walking the dog.  And painting again.  Looking forward to all of it.
