Exeter is another beautiful city. It’s origin is unknown, dating back to pre-Roman times. Remnants of Celtic, Roman and medieval structures are now carefully preserved. With a population of over 100,000, Exeter is located in the Southwest of England. Situated on the River Exe in the county of Devonshire, it is the capital city of Devon. The surrounding area of Devon has broad, gentle hills and lavish green fields, easily seen from the city center. The city is also home to the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, which dates back to Norman times. Fortunately the cathedral was spared from the Nazi blitz. It was hard to keep my camera in my bag.
